String Workshop

The Genesee Symphony Orchestra (GSO) and Tompkins Bank of Castile are pleased to sponsor our annual String Workshop again this year. The String Workshop is open to school age students and adults who play violin, viola, cello and double bass and is designed to provide experience and opportunity for them to come together to make quality music with others of comparable ability. It is a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Participants meet and rehearse with GSO music director S. Shade Zajac while being mentored by symphony string players. The final activities of this event take place a week later as participants attend the symphony dress rehearsal in preparation of performing in a concert alongside the entire GSO.

This year’s musical selections for String Workshop are “Saturday Night Waltz” and “Hoedown” from Aaron Copland’s Rodeo. Requirements for String Workshop musicians of any age are invited if they have acquired a minimum of Level 3 or 4 skill level on their instrument. Participants must commit to attending all activities including the dress rehearsal.

Once registered, students will receive digital copies of Rodeo in advance of April 27th rehearsal.
